Associate Member Recruitment

Associate Members

Associate Members are sororities that are members of Georgia Tech’s Panhellenic Council but are not members of National Panhellenic Council. This includes both local sororities and Associate Member sororities. Local sororities only exist in one location while Associate Members have a national governing board of their own. Georgia Tech has 2 associate Members: Alpha Delta Chi and Alpha Omega Epsilon. Associate Member chapters participate in all the same activities and have access to all the same resources as National Panhellenic Chapters. The only difference is Associate Members pay lesser dues to Panhellenic and do not have full voting rights within Panhellenic. Associate Member chapters do have full discussion privileges and members can hold committee chair positions.

Recruitment General Information

Associate Member Recruitment is the time when the 2 Associate Member Sororities recruit new members. There is no general application required to participate, however, chapters may ask you to fill out an individual application for their information. As a Potential New Member, it is not required to attend all the chapters: you may go to one chapter’s events or all the chapters. Also, you may attend as many nights of Associate Member Recruitment as you want – don’t think because you missed the first night that you can’t participate! However, you are encouraged to attend as many nights as possible so the sisters can get to know you well.

What to expect

You can dress casual: you don’t have to wear anything specific. There are generally 4 nights of events, each night lasting two hours, and all events are casual. Each chapter holds their events in a different location. Each night provides more information about the chapter and will allow you to meet more sisters. Each night of Recruitment has a planned activity or theme that is unique to the chapter: there can be anything from philanthropy projects to an ice cream party! Since each chapter is different, be sure to check their websites for more details about events.

Schedule

This fall, Alpha Delta Chi and Alpha Omega Epsilon will be holding Recruitment the week of August 24th. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Crumley (mcrumley3@gatech.edu)
